Passport Renewals & OCI

Passport Renewal

• If you already have a passport that is expiring soon, you can renew it easily. It’s much easier than applying to a new one.
• To renew your passport, you must:
• Fill an online application form
• Keep supporting documents and passport-sized photographs ready
• Find two references
• Submit application and pay fee
• Do not forget to send your expiring passport with the application and note that it cannot be used for further travel purposes.

OCI Card

The renewal/re-issuance of new OCI card will be applicable for the following categories:

• In case of issuance of new passport (once a new passport is issued after completing 20 years of age.)
• In case of change of personal particulars viz. name, father’s name, nationality etc.
• In case of loss/damage of OCI registration certificate.

A person who has got registration as OCI cardholder prior to attaining the age of 20 years will have to get the OCI card re-issued only once when a new passport is issued after his/her completing 20 years of age, so as to capture his/ her facial features on attaining adulthood.

If a person has obtained registration as OCI cardholder after attaining the age of 20 years, there will be no requirement of re-issue of OCI card.
